What is happiness anyway?

Is it just a feeling in your belly?

Why do all human beings, no exception, want to be happy?

Not every person wants chocolate.

Not every person wants children.

Not every person wants to skydive.

But, every person wants to be happy.  It’s a common thread amongst us all.  That’s over 7 billion people with the same goal!

Interesting, isn’t it?

We are all so different, but fundamentally the same.

I’ve concluded that we’ll never know why we all desire happiness, not in this lifetime anyway.  But the bottom line is that we all do.

So, the next logical question is how can we be happier?

Well, I’ve devised a list of 30 simple tips that will help you hop on the happy wagon.  Will all these tips appeal to everyone?   Probably not.  But, most will.

In fact, this list is more about reminding you, rather than teaching you, how to be happy.

Please note that these tips are in no particular order.

  1. Smile (right now)
  2. Focus on the solution, not the problem
  3. Get a good night’s sleep
  4. Go for a walk
  5. Surround yourself with happy people
  6. Do a news fast
  7. Meditate
  8. Play with your kids (don’t just watch them)
  9. Single-task (don’t multi-task)
  10. Serve others
  11. Relax more
  12. Eat well
  13. Live in the present moment
  14. Listen to your favorite upbeat song
  15. Make love
  16. Dance like nobody is watching
  17. Take a deep breath
  18. Declutter
  19. Spend time with people you love
  20. Look at the stars
  21. Practice mindfulness
  22. Be kind
  23. Be Grateful
  24. Don’t compare
  25. Take a break
  26. Believe in something bigger than yourself
  27. Eat Chocolate (Dark is healthier)
  28. Go outdoors
  29. Laugh more
  30. Soak in the tub

Final Thoughts

I hope you like these tips!  Please know that you don’t need to do all of them in one day.  That would be next to impossible to accomplish!

But, you can choose to follow a couple of these tips today.  And if you do, you’ll take a bounce towards a happier you!
